I don't know what it is, but it seems Garry's Mod doesn't want to download any bsp.bz2 files from any server. I've been having this issue with CerealBox as well (seems to work fine with Murder servers, for some reason).

Can someone just provide me the file "Maps/theater_yuki_v1_5_2c.bsp.bz2" and tell me where to dump it into my Gmod folder?

One idea - maybe provide the Yuki Theater files somewhere so people who may have DLing problems can download the files directly at any time. You can just use Google Drive or something to host it if need be.

Thanks.

Make sure that under Options>Multiplayer:
When a game server tries to download custom content to your computer
is set to
Allow all custom files from server

Also make sure cl_allowdownload is set to 1

I've done many things to try to fix the issue. All the content packs download fine but not any "bsp.bz2" files.

I've gone as far as completely reintalling Steam and Gmod and using the batch file in the Gmod folder to factory reset Gmod. No dice, same result each time: https://i.imgur.com/nTBSHUF.jpg

No idea what it's all about. I thought maybe it was just a temporary problem, but after two days still no luck.

Edit: To be clear yes I did both of those things. Sorry, just realized I didn't give a yes or no answer there. Yup, both options are as they should be, just no luck with getting this file regardless.

If the Content Packs were downloading/extracting successfully, the map would come with them. If Steam Workshop failed to do so, which is your case, the game should fall back to downloading the Map from FastDL.

Does the game say "Missing map" after waiting a while during the "Downloading [...].bsp.bz2" part?

Nothing ever comes up, though I've never let it sit there for more than 10 minutes.

I did look into the issue and read some things about perhaps FastDL failing. Do you and CerealBox perhaps use the same FastDL server by chance? You see, some servers are all having this issue for me while others are fine. I thought perhaps my (rather massive) hosts file possibly had it listed by accident, but after completely removing it still no luck. I figured maybe the FastDL server is having a problem then, but most players don't see it because most players are returning players who already have the required files. As for me, I'm back after a long hiatus.

Can I manually add what I need from workshop? I know I once downloaded the addons manually ages ago in order to noclip freely through the map locally, haha. I guess one of them is failing for some reason? Weird.

I'll leave it on the page for a while longer this time but I just figured if nothing comes up after 10 minutes then nothing is going to.

Edit: I got a friend to join it fine, one who's never been on it before. I dunno what the problem is at all then, really weird. I'll see if manually adding on all YukiTheater packs from the marketplace helps.

Okay, weird development after downloading all YukiTheater content packs from the marketplace. It's... cycling through them all endlessly for some reason? And then the Steam Client Bootstrapper failed and steam crashed... what the?

Something is wonky as all heck here. Not just Gmod, but Steam somehow crashed.

Okay, I restarted Steam and now I'm on the YukiTheater page again. Now it's stuck on "Downloading resource/fonts/bebasneue.tff.bz2".

It may take an extremely long time to download anything over FastDL.

We and Cereal Box do not use the same FastDL servers, as we host them using our own websites.

The best suggestion I've got for you is to do the following, in this order:
  1. Uninstall GMod using Steam
  2. Delete the steamapps/common/GarrysMod folder, thus clearing out any remaining files
  3. Open Steam and go to Settings>Downloads and click Clear Download Cache
  4. Go here and Unsubscribe from all of your Addons
  5. Reinstall GMod
  6. Run FactoryReset-GMod.bat and make sure to answer Y when prompted to continue
  7. Wait for FactoryReset-GMod.bat to finish; it may take a long time and may freeze
  8. Start GMod
  9. Subscribe to all in YukiTheater's Content Collection
  10. Try joining the server again

Well I tried all of that now, still no luck.

I went ahead and made a quick video about it, in case it sheds any light on what exactly is going on. You can skip to towards the end if you like:

It's a private video and you can just tell me when you've seen it.

Thanks for the help so far.

Okay, so I'm able to join now.

Thanks for that, no idea what this issue was all about or where it stemmed from. I still can't join other servers but meh, screw it for now I guess, I may need to completely format and reinstall Windows to fix whatever's going on.

Also sorry for the late reply, fell asleep.

Jeez, yeah, I dunno... If my last solution didn't work, there must be something seriously broken there lol

Oh I guess you didn't see the video? Here it is if you want it, though I don't figure it'll do you much good in pinpointing where the issue is originating from.

Well...the best thing I can suggest is, after you've reinstalled GMod, start it once before running FactoryReset-GMod.bat.

Actually... For some reason, when you visited steamcommunity.com, it had Broken HTTPS, which I think is more of the issue. If GMod is unable to connect to Steam's servers securely, downloading Workshop Items may fail. Furthermore, if GMod is unable to connect to Swamp Servers' website or YukiTheater's website, downloading anything from FastDL will fail.

Do you run an Antivirus or a Web Filter like BlueCoat?
Also, if you look at your Console after attempting to connect, is there anything that says "HTTP ERROR"?
