So i opted into the chromium beta to use Yuki theather properly, and when i launch the game i get stuck on the main splash screen with no menus or anything

Hmmm. Being on 8.1 might lend into that, as I think Chromium has only ever been tested on 10, but I haven't heard of it doing that to other players before.
Consider switching to the x86-64 branch and seeing if you can load into the server there.
